Sunlit Kitchen

This kitchen is the NARI of Madison 2016 Contractor of the Year Award Winner for Residential Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000. What had been a separate kitchen and dining room has now been transformed into a great room. Removal of the wall between these spaces opens things up for an abundance of light throughout the day. The workspace is improved with a large island and ample counter space, allowing up to four cooks in the kitchen at any given time – perfect for when the homeowners have extra hands on deck to process and can produce from the family garden. We preserved spaces for cookbooks and the dog bed and incorporated a new place for wine storage and dry bar to improve organization to allow for pantry storage. Dated dark wood paneling was removed and the overall aesthetic was shifted to a contemporary design that emphasizes light. The space is illuminated by undercabinet lighting, modern light fixtures in the dining room, and large windows for a natural glow that makes the room feel airy.
